Choice-based practice for autonomy and embodiment

From 18 US dollars
U.S. 1

About The Practice

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is an evidence-based, body-centered approach originally developed at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment as an adjunctive treatment for PTSD and complex trauma. Rather than focusing on achieving particular shapes, this practice emphasizes choice, agency, and the opportunity to notice your own experience in the present moment. Using invitational language and a non-directive approach, participants are offered opportunities to explore movement, stillness, and sensation at their own pace. There is no expectation to perform, keep up, or get anything "right." What to Expect: ✓ All Levels Welcome ✓ No Yoga Experience Required ✓ Choice-Based Language ✓ Trauma-Sensitive Facilitation ✓ Evidence-Based Approach ✓ Emphasis on Agency and Autonomy ✓ Opportunities to Build Interoceptive Awareness ✓ Standing and Floor-Based Options May Be Offered ✓ Balancing Shapes Optional ✓ Multiple Ways to Participate ✓ Physical Assists Not Offered ✓ No Hands-On Corrections ✓ Props Available ✓ No Pressure to Keep Up Best For: People living with PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, recovery journeys, or life transitions, as well as anyone who prefers a more choice-centered, accessible, and non-performative approach to yoga.
