Restorative and Yin Yoga may look similar from the outside. Both are quiet, floor-based practices with longer-held shapes, but they offer the body very different experiences.
In this workshop, Michelle Soto-Rivera will help us explore the qualities of each practice:
-
How Yin Yoga uses time, gravity, and an appropriate amount of sensation to gently engage connective tissues
-
How Restorative Yoga uses generous support to reduce effort and create conditions for deep rest
-
Why a Yin shape and a Restorative shape may look alike while feeling entirely different
-
How to recognize what your body may need on a particular day
-
Ways to adapt both practices with props, choice, and curiosity
The workshop will include accessible education, time for questions, and guided experiences of both Yin and Restorative Yoga. Rather than asking you to push toward a particular shape or outcome, Michelle will invite you to notice, explore, and choose what feels supportive in your own body.
Come curious. Be ready to leave with a clearer understanding of these practices, and a more nuanced language for tuning into and paying attention to your own body.
